About Mr Chehata

Mr Ash Chehata is a specialist orthopeadic surgeon based in Melbourne. He is internationally trained in key hole and minimally invasive procedures.  He performs upper limb trauma surgery on both adult and children. 

With a specific focus on shoulder, elbow and wrist surgery, each
consultation involves actively listening to your problem and carefully
examining your injury to discover the best course of action and assess the
need for orthopedic surgery.

Before Your Visit

Consultations

To complete the necessary paperwork we request you arrive 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time.

The following will be required:

  • A current referral from you GP
  • Medicare card
  • Membership details of your private health fund insurance or WorkCover insurer
  • Any relevant X-rays, ultrasounds, MRIs, bone or CT scans from previous procedures
  • Copies of operation records, medical records, X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, bone scans, ultrasounds and so on from prior doctors’ appointments that relate to your problem area (even if you have been told that they are normal).
  • If you have seen a physiotherapist, please bring a progress letter from the therapist.
  • If you have had surgery elsewhere, please bring a copy of your operation report.
  • A list of all medications that you are currently taking and their doses.
  • A list of any known drug allergies and the symptoms you may have from taking these medicines.
  • Any medical information or reasons for admission to hospital.
  • Your health insurance information.
  • Your claim number if it is a Worker’s Compensation injury.

Mr Chehata encourages you to ask questions during your consultation to ensure you understand any treatment or required surgery.

What to Wear:

If you are having shoulder or elbow problems, please wear a singlet or a top that has few buttons. Ladies, please ensure that underclothing is worn to allow the shoulder to be examined with the outer garments removed.
